Presidential interview at the Olympics highlights underground churches
In a very frank interview with sportscaster Bob Costas that covered many topics but centered largely on foreign policy questions, President Bush repeated a direct appeal he made to Hu Jintao to “register the underground churches and give them a chance to flourish.” The President spoke openly of the hospitality offered by the Chinese President and the opportunities that cordiality provided for discussion of policy.
