Meet Amie…
AR Amie, can you tell us where you are from?
Amie I moved to Colorado from New Mexico last year, but I claim Texas as my home. This is where my whole family is from.
AR Tell us about a significant moment of your life.
Amie Definitely when I met my husband. That moment is branded in my mind. Our eyes met across a crowded room… It was magical!
AR Can you illustrate how you came to be a part of the team here at Alpha Relief?
Amie It really is amazing how it happened. Scott was working with AR and has been a good friend of ours for five years or so. Nick and Scott were stationed together in New Mexico and we all attended the same church. They were roommates before we were married. After moving to Colorado, I started working in the Library system, but it was no longer satisfying. One afternoon, Scott called me and told me of an opening here at AR. The next day, I met Chris, and within a week I was a part of the team. My work life is incredibly satisfying. I love this.
AR What has changed in your life, from the affect of your work with Alpha Relief?
Amie My outlook on Christianity, life, the world….pretty much everything. I am motivated to learn more on my own and be educated on the political and humanitarian situations in China and N. Korea. I had no idea that Christians were being persecuted the way they are today. While growing up in the church, being persecuted was understood as being made fun of at school. My perspective was very limited. Since teaming up with AR my eyes have been opened to the way things really are. Now I want to take that world-wide perspective and share it with those around me. Material things just don’t seem as important anymore.

This issue of persecution has come to my attention and I pray to God to help us. Let my mind remember these christians in my prays.
I am so proud of you! I am glad you are working where God has called you.
Love Mom
I’ve been supporting Alpha Relief as I have the funds, but I’ve also been supporting an American friend who has 3 schools in India as well as 2 in Korea with another High School in Pakistan. In this way I’ve reached, with my own ‘involvement’ about 1000 children (both in Korea, India and maybe Pakistan – my friend says she hasn’t had the money lately to support the school in Pakistan).
I have the opportunity to go to China, but have, unfortunately been ‘fearful and rational’ about going (since I help many more people by staying in Korea), however my friend in China, needs help immediately as their next period of instruction is at the end of February.
If you know anyone who wants to ‘live and work’ in China (this opportunity is teaching Korean MKs) please contact my friend, Janet at http://www.myrapline@yahoo.com as I’ve decided ‘not to go’ unless they can somehow ‘kidnap’ me on Saturday, February 16th – my schedule, except for the ‘Lunar New Year’, doesn’t allow me to ‘runaway’ except on that date (to meet their starting period of that school in China)…keep me in your prayers on this.
I did go to North Korea in October 2000 and noted that their was ‘no paint on the buildings’ and, after talking with some ‘locals’ noted ‘they are very intelligent but ignorant’ of the ‘outside world’…well I’m rambling and have many things to do..thanks for reading this
